Rick Hurst

A fine artist I am not. In 1987, I was teaching high school math in Globe, Arizona when  a copper miner’s wife led me through one really bad oil painting of a desert canyon. That’s my formal training. I like to paint subjects that catch your attention but I’m not too particular. I’ll paint scenery, people, city streets, empty rooms. Not everything is going to appeal to everyone.  I  try never to spend more than 5 or 6 hours in total, spread over 6 or 8 sittings. Any more than that and they start to look too busy and get too expensive. The frames are mostly rough cut pieces of barn wood or oak flooring. I like to keep it simple.  Make something of reasonable quality that you can afford to take home with you.
